I have been using the same two workout videos for the last year. They are excellent workouts and I highly recommend them (Bob Harper's Super Strength and Cardio Conditioning). But I was getting bored and needed to switch things up.
I have been debating between two workouts that look fun and challenging: P90X and Insanity (both by Beachbody). Both look amazing, challenging, and fun. I decided to go with P90X!

I just finished my first week and I can already feel a difference :) Everyday a different batch of muscles was sore. The first three days I needed to take Ibuprofen in order to sleep at night. I tried not to take anything but every time I moved I would wake up and think "OUCH!"
This morning I did 132 assisted pull-ups. I am wondering how many thousands of assisted pull-ups I will do before I do one real pull-up. It will happen!
The tough part about starting this very rigorous program is the timing. I am also training for the QC half marathon at the end of September. On Wednesday I was scheduled to run 8 miles. I was very sore and my body was just tired. But I got out there and did my best! I shortened my run to 7 miles and my pace was slower than normal. Was I annoyed by my outcome? No way! That was the hardest run I have ever done. I am sure I will get stronger in the next few weeks and I will be feeling great in time for the 1/2 :)
If you're interested in P90X (or Insanity) check out my friend Jessica's Beachbody page (she is a coach and personal trainer).
(FYI- I am not taking before and after photos. I'm doing this for myself and I don't really care if anyone else can see a difference. Photos are good for motivation but I am very self motivated.)
