Joshua made an electromagnet in school today. He then used it to pick up metal washers. The directions said to use one D-cell and see if you could pick up and move metal washers.Joshua explaining to me what an electromagnet is and how it works- " An electromagnet is a magnet. The batteries make an electric field because the energy travels through the wires. It works because the energy passing through the wire makes the nail a magnet."
Joshua was able to pick up two washers.
We added an extra D-cell to see what would happen...
