Another Manic Monday :)

We officially have a one year old in our house! Yesterday we celebrated Elliana’s birthday “just us”. We sang Happy Birthday to her after breakfast and then opened gifts in the evening. She even had ice cream (her favorite treat). It was a great day! Here is a picture of Elliana eating her ice cream...Today has been a crazy day in the Nelson house. Although I am starting to think that most days are crazy around here. The boys helped me make and decorate Elliana’s birthday cake. And as of right now Asher has a fever and is asleep on the couch…
Joshua took a math test and did awesome. Right now he is doing his independent reading outside on the swing set…have I mentioned how much I LOVE homeschooling!
Joshua and I were talking about how different homeschooling is from going to school (one difference is that Joshua and I were talking, in the middle of the afternoon :). He told me he likes being able to play outside during the day and even do his school work outside if he wants (and mom agrees of course). He also told me that kids at school don't get to help make their baby sisters birthday cake :) He loves our "cooking" lessons. Aaron and I have long seen the benefits of homeschooling. But I am so happy that Joshua sees the benefits and realizes that for our family this is better than going away to school.

Here are a couple of Joshua’s latest creations. He has the mind of an engineer. The first one is a helicopter the second is Optimus Prime.
Tonight we are having some family over to see the birthday girl.
