Aaron and I were out running when I stumbled across an awesome caterpillar. This thing was huge; when I picked it up I could feel its muscles moving! I moved it to safety and decided I would pick it up on the way back if it was still there. Unfortunately the caterpillar was too quick and was gone when we returned. Yesterday I took the kids on a nature walk trying to find another one to show them.
Joshua giving Asher instructions. I have no idea why Asher needed instructions to walk, but it seemed important.

Walking hand-in-hand with my girl :)

Apparently no one knew which direction to take...

What did we find- a lot of dog poo (luckily we didn't step in it) and a bunch of teenagers smoking pot...in a park. I stared at them as I was approaching and they quickly left, but their stench remained.
After a long walk to get to this park we had to turn around and head home. It did make for a good teaching moment. I informed my children that I would give them the beating of their life if they ever did such a thing. So they know where we stand on that topic :) We discussed that those boys would probably end up in jail and did not have a good future ahead of them.
I had my camera with me and it would have been fun to take their picture as I approached them. But in a drug induced state, they may have become violent and I would have had to beat up some scrawny teenage boys :)

I love nature walks. Yesterday all of us and my mom headed for Black Hawk State Park and while we never quite made it to the trails, we had an amazing time picking up acorns, climbing on logs which were filled with some amazing moss and fungi. Plus we met a family who had brought a rake an the kids had a blast jumping in piles and throwing leaves with new friends. One of those moments when I am glad to be a homeschooling family. And thank you also for your prayers the other day. Much better day because of them. Peace and goodness.
That sounds like so much fun! I need to remember to bring a rake on our next trip into nature :) Love you guys!
