We are currently in the middle of our second week of school. I am always a little anxious about starting a new year. I want everything to go really well, and like every other part of life, it seldom does. Little problems inevitably arise and things need to be tweaked to make it all come together properly.
The organizational gods must have been shining on me this time because everything is going wonderfully! One of my sons actually told me that school wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be. Translated to mom/teacher language that means "School is awesome ! And I am so appreciative to have a mom/teacher who puts in hours of preparation and planning for my education!" :) I have rose covered ears....
Another new beginning happened in my life. I have been cleared medically. I was a little nervous to start marathon training again. I wasn't sure how much I had lost in the last three months. So I decided why not see a running PT and learn a completely new way to run, that would make everything so much easier (note the sarcasm). Thus, I started a new adventure in running. My PT videotaped me running on a treadmill from several angels and analyzed my gait, angle that I bend at the waste, and many other running type things. After about a month of gradually changing many little things I now run in a much more efficient manner.
After all this work I decided to see where I was as far as distance. About two weeks ago I went for a long run- 17 miles to be exact :) I was pretty happy with that distance and decided that I would indeed restart my marathon training. It will be tough, but I am going to give it all that I have and see where I land.
This past weekend I gave myself a challenge- run two double digit days in a row. This is something I have never done before. Friday I ran 10 miles, Saturday I ran 13.1 miles (half marathon distance!). I ran day two at a faster pace than day 1. And on Saturday I ran the half marathon distance in 2 hours and 4 minutes. That is 5 minutes faster than my last half marathon, a new PR! I took Sunday off to rest and then ran a double on Monday (6 miles in the morning and 7.1 miles in the evening. yep, another half marathon day :) I am super excited to be on this journey and I look forward to seeing what happens in the weeks to come.
Now I am off to eat more food. Marathon training requires so many extra calories. I have a hard time keeping up, but I enjoy trying :)

CONGRATULATIONS on being cleared (and starting your new school year successfully). :)
I'm so proud of you for jumping in with both feet (yet again) and chasing after your dreams/desires. You are such an inspiration!
Sounds like the Running PT has really helped make you even more efficient in your time as well. How exciting that just by learning how to be more efficient with your running can improve so many things. So glad you're back on track. I can't wait to hear how things continue for you!
