We have never been a big fish eating family. But Aaron and I really want to make healthy eating choices. We decided to step out of our comfort zone and try salmon.
I found a recipe for what looked like a yummy marinade and gave it a try. It turned out fantastic! We have made this recipe twice so far and the second time was even better than the first. The trick was marinating it, putting back in the freezer, and then taking it out to thaw in the marinade.
Ingredients
- salmon fillets
- garlic powder to taste
- salt to taste
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Directions
- Season salmon fillets with garlic powder, and salt (I just put this in the marinade).
- In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and olive oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. (after this amount of time I put it in the freezer, took it out the next day to thaw in the marinade)
- Preheat grill for medium heat.
- Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill, and discard marinade. Cook salmon for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. (I cooked ours 10 minutes on each side and served it with a baked potato)
